6-minute period drama
Inspired by The Mark on the Wall by Virginia Woolf
Synopsis
Before it became one of the most esteemed publishing houses of the twentieth century, the Hogarth Press was nothing more than a hand-powered printing press in the Woolfs' living room. As war raged across Europe, Virginia and her husband Leonard set about printing their first book. Virginia was seized with doubt, retreating into her imagination to avoid uncomfortable decisions. Directed by Inez Playford, The Mark is a snapshot of Virginia's extraordinary yet troubled mind as she petitioned Leonard for more time. This is a portrait of a woman desperate to meet her potential and the gentle persistence of her husband, who gave her the courage to trust her voice and print her work.
